Amy Winehouse

original portrait painting of Amy Winehouse
As some of you may already know, portrait isn't my usual painting subject, however I'm passionate about art and I'm inspired by passion and beauty. So far it has been a beauty of architecture. This time, a huge talent and passion for music that Amy had was my inspiration. I definitely put my heart and soul into this.

Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September 1983 – 23 July 2011) was an English singer and songwriter. She was known for her deep, expressive contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres, including soul, rhythm and blues and jazz.
“Amy was, in my opinion, the most soulful vocalist this country has ever seen. And her album Back to Black was the best album I had heard since the seventies. No question. It’s a tragedy on two levels. Most important of course, the waste of such a young life and the pain of those who knew and loved her, but it’s also a tragedy for all of us that we won’t be hearing the exquisite music that she would have given us if fate had spared her life" - George Michael
Amy Winehouse defied convention and became an immediate pop icon. Amy Winehouse's career was short, yet earth shattering. She quickly became a critical darling and, with two albums sold millions, changed the shape and perception of what pop music could be
